Comprehensive Curriculum, Individualized Approach
Ages: 6-9 years
The Lower Elementary curriculum builds on the strong foundation laid during the Early Childhood years. The integrated curriculum is designed to spark the child’s enthusiasm for knowledge, nourish the child’s creativity, and to inspire the child’s discovery of the world. Students this age are learning to be part of a wider community: Social skills are enhanced through cooperative group activities and discussions.
Students participate in regular field trips including visits to the Ludwick Farm, WNIT Studio tour, Round Barn Theater, the Bodine Fish Hatchery, and Bonneville Mill.
While our philosophy is based on Dr. Maria Montessori’s principles, our rigorous curriculum encompasses the traditional fields of language, mathematics, history, science, geography, computer skills, and foreign languages. Children typically work at their own pace: It is not uncommon for children to be working above grade level.
