Saint Joseph’s senior,
Curt Collingwood, traveled to
Austin, Texas with teacher Thomas Loughran earlier this year. The
team presented two posters they created at the American Astronomical
Society’s 211th meeting. The trip was sponsored by the Spitzer Space
Telescope Observing Program for Students and Teachers, in
collaboration with the Research Based Science Education program of
the National Optical Astronomy Observatory.
Zachary Stangebye
is featured in this month’s, Where are they now? Interviews with
Montessori Graduates, in Tomorrow’s Child, a
nationally distributed publication of the Montessori Foundation.
Zach is currently attending the University of Michigan. Visit our

Congratulations to Joe O’Rourke for his outstanding achievement as
Valedictorian of Adams High School. Joe will be attending Yale in
the fall. He is also currently working with Lori Twining to build a
new toddler structure as his Eagle Scout project.
Joseph O’Rourke,
a senior at Adams High School, won the top prize at the science fair
at Notre Dame, the prestigious Intel Award.
Molly Firth
of Marian High School was awarded $208 for “Functionalized X-ray
contrast agents for micro-damage detection.” The research
synthesized gold nano particles to bond to bone for applications in
understanding bone disease through imaging.
2005
TMA graduate Maria Muffoletto received an academic letter of achievement
at Penn High School. She is currently a junior. This letter is
awarded to students whose GPA is above 3.7 for 5 or more consecutive
semesters.
Arnav Dutt is the captain
and top scorer of the Saint Joseph’s High School Quiz Bowl team. The
team is currently 7-2 for the lead in the league as of 2/21/08. Last
year they placed fourth in the state and sixteenth at nationals.
Marian High School senior, Kylie
Poulin, and her team mates placed first in the Indiana
Stock Market Game out of 57 teams in the region. Their portfolio was
valued the highest out of 32 teams competing at Marian.
Saint Joseph’s High School senior, Brian Huang, won
the string division of the Young Artist concerto competition
sponsored by the South Bend Symphony. This is an outstanding
accomplishment! Brian also participated in the 2008 Indiana All
State Orchestra playing the violin. In addition to his music
achievements, Brian received a perfect score on the January Indiana
Mathematics League contest.
