Oops – where can I put the leftovers?
The car dilemma is where to empty the last of the coffee, the bits of milk and cereal or uneaten toast that are left over at the end of the morning drive. When you pull into the drive at school, we can offer you a solution. Look for the large blue trash bins near each driveway, pull up and toss them – you may have to pop out of the car for a minute but there is room for others to pass you. It seems as if a bit of liquid on the drive would not be a problem, but there is often no rain to wash it away or critters to eat the last bits. And in the Montessori tradition of role modeling grace and courtesy, this small act leaves an impression on your child that it is ok to litter, which you do not intend.
Glad we can offer you an alternative.
Class Observations
This is a great time of year to see your child’s growth and observe the classrooms. Call Kim at 256-5313 to schedule your observation.
Early Childhood Kindergarten Recognition
The five and six year olds who are completing the Early Childhood cycle will mark the occasion with a “Recognition Ceremony”. Everyone is invited to attend Thursday, June 5th at 1:00 p.m. in the gym. This year we have a seventh grade Junior High student as a guest speaker. Please invite your family and special friends to this very special event.
An Invitation to Our Classroom at the Center for the Homeless
Our children love to have the 8th graders come to work with them on Tuesday mornings through the school year. The junior high big kids seem to really enjoy the return to the simpler pleasures of our classroom. They enjoy it so much that we have had inquiries if it would be possible to continue to volunteer through the summer months. Since our class is open year round, we are able to offer this opportunity. So we invite you to volunteer in our classroom this summer, as frequently or infrequently as you are available. You may choose to come the same day every week, or to come only during one week, or even one single date. You may also choose to come during our work cycle, or to join us for lunch. We serve family style, so this gives a great opportunity to see independence in action! We are extending this invitation to the current eighth graders and alumni.
If you are interested, please contact Bobbi Lauritsen at the Center (282-8700 ext 332) or
We also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all they do for our classroom: the 8th graders, the parents that have become our milk fairies, Roz Anderson for making our art project for Windfall so beautiful, everyone that participated in the Fall Frolic, and everyone else that has done so much for us (sometimes without us even knowing about it).
