For more than twenty years, The Montessori Academy's annual
Windfall event has brought together
members and supporters of the school community for an evening of celebration. It has evolved into one of the most important fundraising initiatives to help the school support its mission, instilling in students a lifelong passion for learning.

Over 150 guests were truly dazzled
on Saturday, March 20th by the “Life is a Fairy Tale”
setting of the school’s annual Windfall Auction. From the
hundreds of sparkling candles which lit up the tables to the
dramatic center pieces highlighting each fairy tale,
Knollwood Country Club’s transformation was simply
breathtaking. High spirits and generosity prevailed from the
moment guests arrived through the last word of the
auctioneer, resulting in an evening of lively, generous
bidding in both the silent and live auctions. The 2010
auction turned out to be one of the most successful auctions
ever. Special thanks to
Windfall volunteer chair Melanie Como-Dits and our decor
volunteer chair, Kate Lawton for their vision and
leadership, and a huge thank you to the hundreds of
volunteers for all of their time and efforts to make this a
success. We think all will agree that the event was a night
to remember.
WHAT IS
WINDFALL?
Windfall is an annual dinner and auction to raise funds for The Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes. The monies raised are part of our yearly budget and go directly to fund our classrooms through professional development and classroom supplies and materials that are unique to a Montessori education.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
The Windfall auction is a fun, adults-only evening with good friends, fine food and opportunities to bid on great donated items. The silent auction takes place early in the evening. You will have a chance to view the items and write in your bids on bid sheets. Silent auction tables will close in time for you to enjoy dessert and find your seat for the live auction fun. Get ready to raise your paddle for some big ticket items, including your own child's classroom art project!
CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN?
The auction is an adults-only event.
DO I HAVE TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY?
The auction is a TMA fundraiser, so we hope you come prepared to bid what you can. You might spend some of your family's dining dollars on restaurant gift certificates and some of your vacation dollars on an auction adventure. The silent auction offers a wide range of items with a similarly wide price range. There are also “non-bidding” options, like the 50/50 raffle tickets. You are sure to find something in the auction to fit your budget. However, you are not obligated to bid on anything. You are also encouraged to invite friends, family and colleagues who have spending power. Egging on interested bidders is highly encouraged!
