Teacher Education: The Montessori Teacher Academy (MTA)
The Montessori Teacher Academy (MTA) is an accredited certification program of The Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes in partnership with Indiana University South Bend. The teacher education program certifies MTA graduates for the Montessori Early Childhood ages two and one-half through six years. The Montessori prepared environment is the setting for the academic component of this one-year program. The program consists of a six-week full-time (eight hours a day, five days a week) academic session conducted in the summer, three weekend workshops of additional curriculum (October, February and April), and a full school year of student teaching. The next certification program begins in June of 2011 and ends with the school year in June of 2012. All sessions meet at The Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes, 530 East Day Road, Mishawaka, Indiana.
