Welcome to Early Childhood Room 3!

August, 2020

Dear Parents of Early Childhood Room 3,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at The Montessori Academy! We are anxiously awaiting the return of many students to be joined by some fresh new faces.  I’m sure that they will be eager to renew old friendships and make new ones after an extended time away from school.  Please review the documents below and return all forms to the office no later than Friday, August 14th.

In order to follow the recommended health and safety regulations, we have had to make some changes to the room.  We have set up tables for two using plastic shields to keep the work area safe.  There will be dots on the floor to show where rugs will be to maintain distancing and where they will sit on the line in the morning.  We will allow siblings to sit or work together without distancing.  We will also have all the supplies separated into zippered pouches by each work to keep the germs at bay.  We will be sanitizing the room, works and supplies all throughout the day.  We will supply a drinking cup for your child but if your child stays all day, they will need a lunch box with freezer inserts to keep lunch cold until 11:30 when we eat.  If your child has any allergies or aversions, please let us know and send a special snack for them daily.

Each child needs to have a large Ziploc bag with two sets of spare clothing.  Please bring this on your child’s first phase-in day (shirt, pants, underwear, socks and extra face masks -- the clothing as well as the bag should be clearly marked with your child’s name).  This year each child will also need to bring a pair of crocs (or similar-type shoes) to wear inside the classroom (“inside shoes”).  When the weather gets cold, each child will also need snow gear (snow pants, boots, hat and waterproof gloves).  If your child stays all day, please also provide nap things if they are under 5 or you want them to nap (small blanket, small pillow, and a small lovey - Beanie Babies are great).  Please label and send these with your child on the first day of phase-in.

We will phase new students in gradually by having them attend Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. and on Thursday and Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.  The following Monday, if your child is a full day student, they will stay all day unless they have had any difficulties in the previous week.  We would then modify the time accordingly.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Thank you for choosing TMA for your child's school.  We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Ms. Barb Harvey, Teacher
