August, 2020
Dear Parents of Early Childhood Room 7, Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at The Montessori Academy! I'm so pleased to be joining The Montessori Academy after having spent the past 10 years at Montessori schools in Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. I am looking forward to meeting everyone! And I’m sure the students will be eager to renew old friendships and make new ones after an extended time away from school. Please review the documents below and return all forms to the office no later than Friday, August 14th. This year is going to look and feel a little different. We are working hard on providing a safe and healthy environment for everyone. At this time, we are asking each child to bring a reusable child size water bottle each day that will travel between home and school daily (please fill with fresh water each morning at home). Full day children will also need to bring a disposable lunch each day. We are still working on what snack time will look like. Most likely we will have individual pre-packaged snacks. Each child needs to have a large Ziploc bag with a spare set of clothing. Please bring this on your child’s first phase-in day (shirt, shorts/pants, underwear and socks--the clothing as well as the bag should be clearly marked with your child’s name). This year each child will also need to bring a pair of crocs (or similar-type shoes) to wear inside the classroom (“inside shoes”). This will allow us to sanitize daily. Please label and send these with your child on the first day of phase-in. I have spent the past couple of weeks creating baskets for each child to keep their individual items in. Each basket will be labeled and will move throughout the room with your child daily. The basket will contain: a folder, crayon/marker/pencil case, pin-pricker and pad, scissors, glue stick, inside shoes (when not in use), and their personal water bottle. Items may be rotated or added throughout the year. Please review the phase in schedule for our class for the first week of school. See you soon!
