Welcome to Toddler Room 4!

August, 2020

Dear Parents of Toddler Room 4,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at The Montessori Academy! We are excited to welcome your child into our Toddler community.  Please review the documents below and return all forms to the office no later than Friday, August 14th.  I will be contacting you soon to set up a quick (outside) visit to your home. This is a brief opportunity for your child to meet me in their familiar and secure environment. The hope is that when they see me at school, I will be a familiar face for them, even if the environment is new to them.

This coming year is likely to be filled with challenges, but there is also so much to look forward to.  The children make great transformations in our classroom as they develop in language, motor and social skills.  Children are more secure and they acclimate better when they have the time to settle into a new environment gradually.  Please take a look at the phase-in schedule and I will be in touch to schedule your child's individual time. Much like the home visits, I will make sure the first week of phase in fits your schedule. We just want the children to be safe and feel as comfortable as possible.

The child at this age is absorbing everything; the attitudes, the manners, the speech and the social relationships from the adults in his or her environment.  Our goal is to provide a safe, beautiful, peaceful environment in which grace and courtesy are practiced and the children can further develop their language skills, their ability to relate to others and work toward perfecting their movements.

The Toddler environment is set up to prepare the child for life. While we will have to make modifications to the classroom this year, we are confident that the children will still experience a full and enriching experience while in our care.

Warmly,

Mrs. Melissa Baldwin, Teacher/Toddler Division Chair
